PA General Assembly


The PA  General Assembly, like Congress, is a bicameral legislature. The process of a bill becoming a law, therefore, mirrors the Congressional process.  The process is outlined in Making Law in Pennsylvania available on the PA General Assembly website.

In carrying out this legislative simulation, a class should first be divided in half between the House of Representatives and the Senate, then further divided to mirror the current party breakdown in both House and Senate.  The party breakdown, in map form, as of 2009, is available below for both legislative bodies.
